How it works: Sulfur interacts with susbtances in the skin cells that cause exfoliation of the skin as well as promoting normal keratinization (growth of the skin). Sulfur is also thought to have anti-septic effects that can help

 

 

 

fight bacteria and fungus. Sulfur's success in acne therapy may result from an irritant effect that leads to peeling.

Effectiveness: Sulfur has been used for centuries and is successful in treating many skin conditions. Sulfur is often found in products in combination with salicylic acid or tar which may enchance the effects of the sulfur.
