General advice:
See a dermatologist: Psoriasis treatment is likley the most exciting area of research in dermatology today. There are many prescription products ranging from topical creams and ointments to a new class of medications known as the biologic agents. In addition, treatment with ultraviolet light is very successful in treating more diffuse psoriasis. Prescription treatment can cause significant improvement. Visit the National Psoriasis Foundation website: This is the best place for patients to learn more about psoriasis and to stay up to date with the newest treatments and advances.

Treat: In addition to prescription medications, there are over the counter products, particularly shampoos that can help treat psoriasis (see below).
