The Basics: Dandruff, otherwise known as seborrheic dermatitis is a very
common dermatologic condition. Dandruff results from a sensitivity to a yeast. This yeast is present on all individual, some people just seem to be more sensitive to it than others. The result of this sensitivity is dryness, flaking

and irritation/itching.

General advice:
Shampoos: General care for dandruff includes the regular washing of your hair. There are many medicated shampoos available to help with dandruff (see below).

Maintenance: One important aspect of the care of dandruff is to continue treatement once the dandruff is clear. Treatments do not have to be as frequent, but it is a good idea to use whatever products helped every once in a while (for example once a week). This regular preventative use will help to prevent the yeast from coming back and causing the problem to occur again.

Key ingredients to look for:
Pyrithione Zinc: Help to get rid of the built-up scale
Sulfur: Helps with with scaling and to fight yeast
Tar: Helps to remove thick scale and treat inflammation
