General advice: Cleansing: You
should wash your face with a gentle
cleanser or soap and warm water twice a day. Acne in general is not related
to dirt and washing more frequently can actually worsen acne. It is best to simply
use your hand while cleansing your face as the use of a wash cloth or buff puff
may add to irritation. In addition, you should regularly wash your hair with shampoo
as hair care products may contribute to acne. Cosmetics:
When looking for cosmetics, be sure to find products that are oil free, water
based, and are labeled "non-comedogenic" as these products will not
contribute to forming acne/blackheads and whiteheads. It is best to remove
make-up nightly but to do so gently. Diet: There
has been no proof that diet relates to breakouts. However, if you notice breakouts
after eating certain foods, it is best to avoid these.
